Dear Valued Patients, We hope this email finds you in good health and high spirits. As the flu season approaches, we would like to share important updates regarding flu shots, publicly funded vaccines, and private vaccines now available at King City Medical. 🩺 Flu Shots (Now Available) Flu shots are now available at our clinic by appointment only. We strongly encourage you to get vaccinated to protect yourself and your loved ones this season. Regular Flu Shot: For individuals aged 6 months to 65 years High-Dose Flu Shot (Fluzone High-Dose): For adults 65 years and older
Flu Program Highlights: 1. Availability: Limited supply now; please call first to secure your dose, more doses expected in 1–2 weeks. 2. Eligibility: Recommended for everyone aged 6 months and older, especially seniors, young children, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic conditions.
💉 New Public Health–Funded Vaccines received: We have received several Public Health–funded vaccines, available at no cost to eligible patients: Arexvy (RSV Vaccine): Funded for individuals aged 75 and older, and those aged 60–74 who meet "high-risk criteria", including residents of long-term care homes, immunocompromised individuals, people experiencing homelessness, and First Nations, Inuit, or Métis individuals. We also carry a private Arexvy for patients aged 60–74 who do not meet high-risk criteria. Beyfortus (Monoclonal Antibody): Available for infants born on or after April 1, 2025, up to 8 months of age, and certain high-risk children up to 24 months. Provides protection against RSV-related lower respiratory infections in infants and toddlers.
💉 Summary of Private Vaccines Available at King City Medical: In addition to publicly funded options, several private vaccines are available for those wishing to enhance their protection against other preventable diseases: Arexvy (RSV Vaccine) – For adults 60–74. Shingrix (Shingles Vaccine) – For individuals not eligible for the public dose (covered for only age 65–70). Protects against shingles and postherpetic neuralgia (nerve pain). Twinrix Adult and Junior – Combines Hepatitis A and B protection. Recommended for travellers and those at risk of exposure. Engerix-B (Hepatitis B Vaccine) Adult and Junior, recommended for adults, healthcare workers, and travellers. Havrix (Hepatitis A Vaccine) – Ideal for travellers. Meningitis ACWY (Nimenrix or Menactra) – Protects against four meningococcal strains (A, C, W, Y) that can cause meningitis and sepsis. Recommended for travellers, students, and healthcare workers. Meningitis B (Bexsero) – Protects against meningococcal group B infection, a major cause of bacterial meningitis and blood infections. Recommended for infants, adolescents, young adults, and individuals at increased risk, including post-secondary students living in dormitories and travellers to areas with known outbreaks. Prevnar 20 (Pneumococcal Vaccine) – For adults 50–64, protects against 20 strains of pneumococcal bacteria causing pneumonia and meningitis. Gardasil 9 (HPV Vaccine) – Protects against 9 strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV) that can cause cervical, throat, and other cancers, as well as genital warts. Recommended for both men and women up to age 45. Ixiaro (Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine) – Recommended for travellers to parts of Asia and the Western Pacific where the Japanese Encephalitis virus is found.
